Troopers: Wanted suspect dies in officer-involved shooting in Delta Junction
A wanted suspect is dead after a shooting incident Tuesday morning, Alaska State Troopers say.
The suspect has been identified as Daniel Duane Jensen, Jr., 59, of Delta Junction. Court records show that Jensen was charged with 13 counts of sex abuse of a minor in 2013. The case had yet to go to trial.
Troopers said members of the U.S. Marshals' Fugutives' Task Force along with North Pole police were in Delta Junction to serve a warrant on Jensen. The task force is made up of officers from the U.S. Marshals, Alaska State Troopers and Anchorage Police Department.
Authorities were attempting to make contact with the suspect when the shooting happened. AST says no law enforcement officers were injured.
According to a trooper dispatch, the names of the North Pole police officers and troopers who discharged their firearms will be released after their 72-hour mandatory administrative leave.
