It's a bigger show in a new location.

Anchorage's New Year's Eve Celebration and fireworks show won't be at Town Square Park like in recent years, but it won't be far away.

Amanda Moser with the Anchorage Downtown Partnership says setting off fireworks in the middle of downtown required getting permission from all the nearby businesses in the "fall-out zone," which has not always been easy.

This year, an even bigger display will be launched from the more remote Alaska Rail Road property near Ship Creek, and the party will be at the nearby parking lot at 3rd Avenue and E street, the same place as the Anchorage Market and Fur Rendezvous Winter Festival.

The New Year's Eve celebration starts at 5 p.m. next Tuesday. The family-friendly event includes games, dancing and, of course, the fireworks starting at 8 p.m.
