Anchorage police are asking for the public's help finding a person of interest in a stolen vehicle investigation that's linked to a homicide case where a woman was found dead inside of a stolen car.

Police found the woman's body inside of a stolen 2008 Mazda 6 parked on Sitka Street on Dec. 5. The woman, later identified as 27-year-old Lanycha Zimmer, "sustained trauma to the body," according to an Anchorage Police Department alert at the time.

The car was stolen from East Third Avenue, in an area near Sitka Street, on Nov. 4 around 10 p.m., according to a new alert from police.

The person of interest, who police say was in the area at the time the car was stolen, was wearing a gray or dark green hooded jacket with black shoulders. Police say the person also wore white shoes, dark faded pants and a backpack.

Anyone in the area of Sitka Street and East Third Avenue on Nov. 4 before 10 p.m. who remembers seeing a gray Mazda 6 is asked to contact police. Those with information about the person of interest, should call police dispatch at 311.
