Police arrest suspect in SUV fire, 2 deaths in East Anchorage
A man has been arrested in connection to a vehicle fire and homicide investigation, the Anchorage Police Department says.
Police say Tylan Fely, 34, was taken into custody Monday morning.
Fely faces multiple charges including first- and second-degree murder, arson and misconduct involving a weapon. Fely is also charged with misconduct involving a corpse, tampering with evidence, criminal negligent burning and criminal mischief.
According to the APD, two people were found dead in an SUV fire Saturday evening in East Anchorage. Police say officers and the Anchorage Fire Department responded to reports about the fire just after 11 p.m. at the 200 block of Newell Street.
APD says the vehicle was parked in a vacant lot and fully engulfed when they saw two people dead inside. Their names have not been released at this time.
Anchorage police said Monday the victims are believed to be of a woman and girl. The exact cause of death and victims' identities will be determined by the medical examiner.
Detectives say they believe this was an isolated incident and domestic-related.
