Kriner's Diner serves up free, hot Thanksgiving meals to those who need one
Kriner's Diner dishes out plenty of meals, but none are more important than the ones on Thanksgiving.
Employees serve free Thanksgiving meals to anyone who wants one. Co-owner Andy Kriner said this is the one time of the year they can give back to the community.
He cooked 15 turkeys this year to meet the demand.
"The very first year, seven years ago, we only had about 120 people show up, and then the next year about 250," Kriner said, "Now, we always get between 300-350 people. I get about 30 orders out of one 26 lb. turkey, so you do the math. It's not that hard."
The Children's Lunchbox Program is the other big winner besides customers. Kriner's collected donations for the program that provides meals to needy children around the area.
