One person has been arrested for a Wednesday morning shooting near the Regal Totem movie theater on Muldoon Road that left one person injured.

Police say 26-year-old Bruce Mata’afa is charged with assault, misconduct involving a weapon and reckless endangerment.

In a community alert, the Anchorage Police Department says it got the report of shots fired around 9:30 a.m.

When they arrived, officers contacted three people. One man had been shot in the lower body and was taken to the hospital. He’s expected to survive.

Police say the initial indications are two groups of adults got into an argument over the possession of a vehicle. Mata’afa was in one of the groups. The alert states he pulled out a rifle and fired multiple times.

“Bruce and two others then got into a vehicle and fled the scene,” police wrote.

APD says Mata’afa will be taken to jail after detectives finish their interviews.
