1 dead in Glenn Highway crash, APD says
One person is dead after a crash on the Glenn Highway near the outbound Muldoon Road exit, Anchorage Police Department said Sunday afternoon.
Police say officers responded to the crash involving multiple vehicles just before 3 p.m.
"The preliminary investigation found that a full-sized pickup collided with another full-sized pickup, and a Honda Pilot was also struck in the collision," APD wrote in a community alert.
Police say a woman who was a passenger in one of the pickups was pronounced dead at the scene. She was later identified as 68-year-old Leola Graf.
APD says three people were transported to a hospital — one person has critical injuries, and the other people's conditions are unknown.
According to APD, the circumstances of the crash are still under investigation. Officers say they determined that speed and road conditions were both factors.
The outbound lanes of the Glenn Highway at Muldoon were closed as APD investigated the scene. The lanes were reopened just after 7 p.m.
