Juan Camarena, 51, a person of interest in this month's triple homicide in the Valley, has been charged with assault, sexual assault and sex trafficking, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers began investigating the homicide when the bodies of Michael Attwood and Donna Marie Campos were found Nov. 3 off Knik Knack Mud Shack Road in Wasilla. Two days later, Alyssa Jimenez's body was found around Mile 10 of Knik-Goose Bay Road.

Troopers started looking for Camarena Nov. 11; he turned himself in Nov. 14.

An online dispatch states the murder investigation led troopers to "evidence that supported the charges" that were announced Friday.

Camarena appeared in federal court Wednesday after a grand jury indicted him on a charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition. Evidence of that alleged crime was also discovered during troopers' triple homicide investigation.

Camarena is being held at Cook Inlet Pre-trial. Online court records show he's scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.

Troopers say their investigation is continuing.
