An Akiachak man is facing a first-degree murder charge for shooting and killing his older brother.

Alaska State Troopers say 32-year-old Robert Snyder was arrested Thursday about 3 p.m. for the September killing of 36-year-old Tom Snyder.

On Friday, Sept. 13 the brothers had an argument over alcohol, troopers say.

“Robert retrieved a 12 gauge shotgun and shot Tom in the face, killing him,” an online dispatch reads. "Robert then turned the shotgun on himself and fired a single shot into his head."

Tom’s body was taken to the state medical examiner to be autopsied. Robert was taken to Seattle for treatment.

Robert is now being held at the Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center.
