Be prepared for a second round of freezing rain in Anchorage and across the Mat-Su early Friday as another band of showers moves in overnight and temperatures hold in the low to mid-30s.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect Friday morning for up to an additional tenth of an inch of ice in Anchorage, Palmer, Wasilla and Talkeetna.

Widespread freezing rain was seen across Anchorage and the Mat-Su Thursday as showers continued to move in from the southeast. Further south, temperatures stayed below freezing long enough in Kenai and Soldotna for most of the precipitation to stay as snow. Moderate to heavy snow was also reported across the Copper River Basin and Interior Thursday.

Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are also in effect for most of the central and eastern Interior for a combination of snow and wind. This storm is bringing different impacts to the west coast where wind gusts of 45-50 mph have been recorded on St. Lawrence Island and in Nome.

Snow and blowing snow will continue to be a concern on the summits of the Dalton, Steese, and Elliott highways.

Be safe!
