Police arrest suspect in shooting at The Gaslight
An employee at The Gaslight, a bar and lounge on Fourth Avenue in downtown Anchorage, is in the hospital with serious injuries. Police say he was shot while trying to break up a fight inside the bar early Saturday morning.
The Anchorage Police Department wrote in a community alert that officers responded to The Gaslight at 1:17 a.m.
“Initial indications are that a group of patrons inside the bar got into a physical fight when one of the participants pulled out a handgun and began waving it around,” the alert reads.
The employee was shot once in the upper body as he tried to break up the fight.
APD is still investigating the reason for the fight and how many people are involved.
In a community alert Sunday, APD said the shooter has been identified as 27-year-old Reynaldo Armstead. According to police, he was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant. He now faces additional charges of assault, misconduct involving a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Anyone with information who hasn’t already talked to police is asked to call APD dispatch at 311.
