MEA offers excess furniture to Mat-Su nonprofits
The Matanuska Electric Association is giving nonprofit organizations a chance to score free furniture as part of the utility co-op's Day of Sharing.
MEA has excess office furniture, like file cabinets and tables, and outdoor equipment the company no longer needs. Next week, staff from nonprofits around the Mat-Su can come take their pick.
“Furniture isn’t cheap, you know and it always has some level of value so being able to take the items we’re no longer using here and giving back to not-for-profits is a great way to help support our community and support the nonprofits that support our communities as well,” said MEA spokesperson Jennifer Castro.
The event is Wednesday, Oct. 30 starting at 9 a.m. at MEA's Palmer headquarters, located at 163 E Industrial Way. It’s on a first come, first serve basis and will run until 3 p.m. or until everything is given away.
Castro said organizations will need to provide proof of their nonprofit status and be able to haul away the equipment the same day.
