Anchorage police are investigating a deadly Friday morning traffic collision between a pickup and a pedestrian in Fairview.

A community alert from the Anchorage Police Department sent about 8:30 a.m. advised that Fourth Avenue was closed between Latouche Street and Karluk Street while officers were investigating the scene. A subsequent alert stated the closure was from Karluk Street to Ingra Street.

The driver of the pickup stayed at the scene, police say. The woman who was hit was declared dead at the scene.

After Fourth Avenue was reopened later Friday morning, police said the woman was crossing the street at about 7:45 a.m. when she was hit by a pickup going eastbound on Fourth Avenue.

She was in the crosswalk and nearly finished crossing the street when the collision happened.

"Impairment is not believed to be a factor, however poor visibility is believed to be a factor," police wrote.

No one has been arrested.

The woman's identity will be released when her next of kin have been notified.
