Juneau police have arrested a man they said was "armed and dangerous" after allegedly being involved in a woman's assault earlier this week and shooting at police when they tried to approach him Thursday morning.

Officers with the Juneau Police Department served a search warrant at a hotel room near Glacier Highway and Mendenhall Loop Road Thursday around 6:30 p.m. in an attempt to locate 28-year-old Micah Nelson, who was wanted for questioning in multiple felony assault cases.

A release from the department said police found Nelson inside in the hotel. After a short stand off, police said Nelson complied with commands and was taken into custody.

After being seen at Bartlett Regional Hospital for an unrelated injury, Nelson was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. He is being held without bail.

Police said additional criminal charges are pending against Nelson, which will be forwarded to the district attorney's office after investigations conclude.
