Man charged with assault for driving wrong way on Glenn Highway, crashing
A 59-year-old man is facing criminal charges for driving the wrong way on the Glenn Highway and colliding with another vehicle early Thursday morning.
A community alert from the Anchorage Police Department on Friday says Solarnonn Keo faces charges of operating under the influence, third-degree assault and fourth-degree weapons misconduct.
About 12:45 a.m. Thursday, an APD patrol officer saw a dark Chevrolet Suburban driving inbound in the outbound lanes of the Glenn Highway between South Eagle River Road and Hiland Road, the alert reads.
Keo, at one point, crossed the median and was driving on the correct side of the road. But then he crossed back over and continued driving inbound using the outbound lanes.
It was then that Keo hit a Ford Escape that was traveling outbound in the outbound lanes. The Ford’s driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to APD’s alert.
Keo was arrested and taken to jail after being treated for injuries and released from the hospital.
