Kenai Peninsula public school teachers and support staff have a new deal with the district.

School board members approved a new contract during Monday night's meeting with the Kenai Peninsula Education Association and the Kenai Peninsula Education Support Association.

The unions already approved the contract. Both sides reached a tentative agreement on Sept. 17, avoiding a strike scheduled for later that morning.

The agreement is a three-year deal retroactive to July 2018 when the old terms expired.
