Police looking for witnesses in crash that killed 16-year-old bicyclist
The Anchorage Police Department is looking for people with information about the fatal crash that involved a van and bicycle in East Anchorage on Monday morning.
Police confirmed the person killed in the collision was 16-year-old Taylon Soto, who was a student at Benny Benson Secondary School. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The preliminary investigation found that the bicyclist was on the northeast corner of the intersection of Tudor Road and Baxter Road and the driver of a red 2015 Dodge Caravan was traveling westbound on Tudor Road," police said in an update on Tuesday. "The adult female driver struck the juvenile male bicyclist at the intersection."
APD says the driver stayed at the scene and was questioned by officers.
There have been no charges or arrests made so far, but police are looking for additional witnesses. People who have information, including surveillance video, are asked to call police dispatch at 311.
