Anchorage police have arrested a student who they say threatened a school shooting at Wendler Middle School on Wednesday.

A community alert from the Anchorage Police Department says staff at the school were made aware of the threat at the end of the school day around 2:30 p.m.

The student allegedly threatened to "shoot up the school," the APD alert states.

School resource officers were notified and started investigating immediately. According to APD, school staff and one of those officers were able to identify the student.

The student was questioned and arrested. Police say charges have been forwarded to the Division of Juvenile Justice.
