Anchorage Police Department said the Seward Highway just outside of Girdwood at mile 93 was closed before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 because of an accident involving injuries.

According to APD spokesman MJ Thim, police dispatch received the report around 11:50 p.m. Monday about a pedestrian struck on the Seward Highway between milepost 92 and 94 near Girdwood.

Officers found a woman lying on the side of the road. Police said the crash involved a white 2017 semi-truck.

The woman was in the southbound lane when she was struck. Police dispatch initially said she suffered life-threatening injuries. However, Thim confirmed Tuesday morning her injuries are non-life threatening.

The road reopened 3 hours later around before 3:20 a.m. According to APD, the truck driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police investigating the scene.

Thim says there are no charges or arrests at this time and an investigation is pending.
