The Alaska Railroad Corporation says State Fair Trains will operate as scheduled through the holiday weekend.

Alaska Railroad said in a release Wednesday it canceled the trains last weekend because of a concern over wildfire impacts and weather.

A popular attraction for many, the Fair Trains are sold out on all scheduled departures, including 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday.

There are no tickets at 9 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. on Labor Day as well.

Anyone who has purchased train seats doesn't need to confirm their round-trip travel between the Anchorage Depot to the fairgrounds in Palmer.

Passengers are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before train departures, according to the release.

The railroad says it expects to have 840 passengers riding aboard the six 140-seat Fair Trains.

"Affected Fair Train passengers will receive an automatic refund for the full value of their fare," the railroad said in a Facebook post. "If you have further questions, please contact Alaska Railroad reservations at or 800.544.0552."
