Assault investigation turns into homicide case, suspect may face more charges
A man has died after he was hurt in an assault near the Brown Jug at the intersection of Tudor Road and Elmore Road.
The Anchorage Police Department said in a online dispatch 44-year-old Dadir Macow's injuries became life-threatening and he died on Aug. 18.
The initial incident took place Aug. 2 around 10:15 p.m. when police were responding a report of an injured person, the dispatch says.
Police said they found Macow lying down on a grassy area with injuries from an assault. Macow was then taken to a hospital for treatment.
Robbery and assault detectives took over the investigation and made an arrest on Aug. 4.
Now, 25-year-old Gregory Outwater, is awaiting trial in jail where he has been charged with felony assault. However, police say since this investigation has been ruled a homicide, Outwater could face additional charges.
Online court records show Outwater has multiple previous charges including felony criminal mischief involving property damage over $1,000 and misdemeanor assault.
Outwater's latest charges include two separate counts of first-degree felony assault. His next court appearance is on Oct. 2 in Anchorage.
