The Anchorage Police Department will no longer be located on Elmore Road. The new headquarters will be in the old Anchorage Legislative Information Office Building, at 716 W. Fourth Ave.

The Elmore location will close its doors Friday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. On Monday, Aug. 19, APD will be at the new headquarters downtown.

“APD has been in desperate need of additional space to house its staff, as well as property and evidence storage,” said APD Chief Justin Doll last June.

The move back downtown is a homecoming of sorts. APD moved out of a downtown location in 1986 and into the Elmore headquarters.
