Anchorage police took three men into custody Wednesday night after investigating a shots fired complaint at an apartment complex on Richmond Avenue.

An alert from the Anchorage Police Department said someone called dispatch at 5:23 p.m. to report hearing a shot come from the building, located near the intersection of Richmond Avenue and Taylor Street. Officers responded to the scene and noticed a man with a rifle through a window.

The man, later identified as 58-year-old Ignacio B. Bermodes, was standing on a balcony. As officers were talking to Bermodes, they saw another man with a rifle and a pistol inside the apartment. That man was later identified as 35-year-old Raymond P. Ramos, who is related to Bermodes.

"Officers took cover and a perimeter was formed around the building," the alert said.

Bermodes stepped out of the apartment complex and into the parking lot. He was uncooperative for several minutes before officers approached and arrested him.

Ramos also eventually came out of the apartment after speaking with a negotiator. He complied with officers' commands and was arrested just before 7 p.m., according to the alert.

Police got a search warrant and entered the apartment, confirming no one else was there. They recovered a handgun that was reported stolen from a home on Bartlett Drive last year.

Bermodes and Ramos were both charged with resisting arrest. Ramos was also charged with misconduct involving a weapon and theft.

No injuries were reported; however, police also arrested 23-year-old Roberto M. Santiago after a computer check discovered he had a felony warrant for theft. Santiago approached officers at the scene to ask questions about the incident.
