Anchorage police actively looking for robbery suspect
The Anchorage Police Department is actively looking for a man who is suspected of robbing a coffee shop on Potter Drive Thursday evening.
APD officers responded to a report of a robbery at 201 W. Potter Drive in Anchorage at 4:39 p.m. Thursday. According to a community alert, witnesses told police that a man walked up to the window at Perkup Espresso holding a handgun and crawled inside.
The man took an "undisclosed" amount of cash and left the scene on foot. Police say the two employees inside weren't injured.
The man is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing between 160 and 180 pounds. He may have some facial hair.
Several officers set up a perimeter in the area and used a K-9 during the search. Though the perimeter has been taken down, the man has not been caught.
The public is being asked to avoid the area and watch for police. Anyone who sees the man is advised to call 911.
