Travel Tuesday: Book a cabin or visit a state park virtually on new website
Summertime in Alaska means summer fun! On recent editions of Travel Tuesday, we've talked about amazing natural beauty and experiences that only the state of Alaska can provide.
If you're looking to spend extended time in your favorite state park, the Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation has great news for you.
The state has unveiled a newly-updated website, which aims to simplify the booking of public use cabins in state parks. The Alaska State Parks website can be used to find or book one of the 80 public use cabins, which span from Southcentral to Kodiak, Southeast to the Northern Region. The new website launched earlier this year offers trail status updates and 3D trail maps and guides. New features will continue to be added throughout the summer.
You can book a public use cabin online up to seven months in advance.
