The body of a man was found floating in a Juneau pond on Wednesday, according to a release from the Juneau Police Department.

A woman called JPD around 3:43 p.m. to report she saw a body floating in a pond near the 9000 block of Atlin Drive. When officers responded, they found the man's body floating about 25 feet from the shore.

Capital City Fire/Rescue recovered the body from about 4 feet of water in "a marshy area with tall, thick grass."

Police say the body is believed to be that of an adult male, but no identification has been made. Responding officers were unable to determine a cause of death or what injuries the person had.

The body will be taken to the state medical examiner for an autopsy. More information regarding the man's identity and cause of death is expected after the autopsy is completed.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
