A teen was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a shooting at Williwaw Elementary School Tuesday evening, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

On Wednesday morning, the department announced 22-year-old John-Rexie Lagman had been arrested for the crime.

At around 6:57 p.m. on July 2, APD dispatch received reports of a shooting at the elementary school. Initial reports indicated a group of teens were at the basketball court when a scuffle broke out. Lagman pulled out a gun, firing several shots which hit a juvenile male at least once. After the shooting everyone fled the scene, police stated.

A witness called police and said the victim collapsed onto the ground on the 4400 block of San Ernesto Avenue. APD said the injured teen was taken to the hospital.

Lagman faces charges including reckless endangerment and first-degree assault.

Police's investigation is continuing.
