Officials have issued an immediate evacuation order for residents of the Martin and Perfect Perch subdivisions.

The Alaska Incident Management Team managing the Shovel Creek Fire near Murphy Dome has recommended to Fairbanks North Star Borough Emergency Operations to raise the evacuation alerts.

The area was previously in a level 2 evacuation order that has been upgraded to a level 3 order — meaning residents must evacuate immediately.

"The Martin and Perfect Perch subdivisions are located in a rural area dominated by black spruce with approximately 52 structures," an online update states.

Emergency management is urging people who live in the area to leave immediately and not delay leaving. In a Facebook post announcing the evacuation, the Alaska Division of Forestry listed evacuation centers for those affected by the order:

•     Assistance and evacuation center for people: Randy Smith Middle School located at 1401 Bainbridge Blvd, Fairbanks, AK 99701
•     Evacuation centers for pets/animals: Tanana Fairgrounds 1800 College Rd, Fairbanks, AK 99709

McCloud and Murphy subdivisions went from a level 1 to a level 2 evacuation alert, meaning people should be ready to evacuate. Authorities say people in this area should assemble a kit of important items to take with them at a moment's notice.

To create a kit, officials suggest having a seven days' worth of supplies in the car. They also suggest the remembering the "6-P's":

•     People
•     Pets
•     Pills
•     Photos
•     Personal computer (back-up info)
•     important Papers

According to the online update, firefighters are aggressively working to contain the Shovel Creek Fire while providing for the safety of the public.
