Alaska Bureau of Investigation looks into Sand Point jail inmate death
The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is taking over the investigation into the death of an inmate at the Sand Point jail over the weekend.
The Sand Point Police Department received a report of an inmate experiencing a medical emergency at the jail on Saturday, according to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch. The inmate, identified as 42-year-old Lori Wilson of Sand Point, was transported to the local clinic.
Troopers say attempts to save Wilson's life were unsuccessful. Wilson's family was notified of her death.
AST was requested to assist in the investigation by Sand Point police. On Tuesday, ABI took over the case.
Troopers say the investigation is ongoing.
