Human remains found in river belong to missing Akiak man
Alaska State Troopers say they've recovered the remains of a man missing since September.
Troopers from Bethel got report of human remains floating in the river near Napakiak at about 5 p.m. Friday, an online dispatch states. The Medical Examiner in Anchorage later identified them as belonging to 28-year-old Stacey Hoagland of Akiak.
Hoagland was listed as a missing person last fall after a boat that he was on was found submerged across from the boat launch in Bethel. Search and rescue crews from Bethel worked to find Hoagland, but the search was discontinued a few days later.
The body of 25-year-old Holly Mayeda, who was on the boat with Hoagland, was recovered from the river the day before the boat was found, according to a dispatch posted in September.
Troopers say there are no signs of foul play.
