Women's VFW post celebrates 69th anniversary
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 21 celebrated its 69th anniversary Sunday.
It was formed in 1950 by a group of women veterans who wanted to share a sense of camaraderie.
Crucelina Vrabel has been a part of the post for 25 years. She says while she was deployed, the American Legion took care of her family.
"A lot of people were really supportive me and my family when I was sent overseas," she said. "I'd been in Alaska exactly a month when I got sent so we didn't have any friends, we didn't have -- talk about infrastructure -- we didn't have any of that. "
Over the course of its nearly seven decades, Post 21 has done work in the community, including offering scholarships and working as Salvation Army bell ringers during the winter holidays.
The next item scheduled for the group is the 4th of July parade.
