Summer officially arrived! 7:54 AM to be exact, and the forecast couldn't be better for the longest day of the year.

We are looking at another day of sunshine and warmth here in Anchorage. Temperatures climb to near 70 degrees in the afternoon. That comes with ample sunshine. We will see a few clouds throughout the day, most of those staying over the mountains during the day. Dry conditions and onshore flow from the Gulf means smoke from the Swan Lake wildfire will add haze to the atmosphere in Anchorage.

Clouds building overnight will give us the chance of some stray sprinkles in the morning. Don't think of the day as a complete wash. Despite the chance of sprinkles, the sun will still peek out from behind the clouds during the day. Temps will stay in the mid to upper-60s during the day. Fairly close to where we should be this time of year.

But if it's warmth you like, don't worry— the coming week will bring abnormally warm temperatures back to Southcentral. By Sunday we will climb back into the low-70s, and stay there through the week. Sunday comes with a mix of clouds and sun, Monday the chance of a few sprinkles, then clearing through the middle of the week.

Welcome to summer!
