Troopers ID officers, suspect involved in fatal Fairbanks shooting
The Alaska State Troopers have identified the three people involved in a Fairbanks shooting Saturday that left one man dead and a trooper injured.
Troopers say they were serving a warrant around 5 a.m. when the shooting happened.
According to an online dispatch posted Tuesday, Fairbanks-based trooper Brian Hibbs fired his weapon during the incident, killing 48-year-old Shawn Wilson. Another trooper, Derek Cottle, used less-lethal force and was injured.
Hibbs has been a trooper for eight years. Cottle has been a trooper for seven months; he previously served as a Fairbanks Airport Police and Fire for eight years, according to the dispatch.
Troopers say the investigation is ongoing.
