APD: Boyfriend killed girlfriend before turning gun on himself last month
Anchorage police have determined this incident to be a murder-suicide.
An updated release from the Anchorage Police Department determined that Joshua J. Pettis, 37, shot and killed his girlfriend Tammy S. Vasofski, 51, before turning the gun on himself.
The families of both Pettis and Vasofski have been notified of their deaths.
Homicide detectives and the crime scene team from the Anchorage Police Department are investigating a homicide Saturday evening, according to a statement from the department. Police responded to report of a dead person at a home in the 1100-block of East 66th Avenue just before 6:15 p.m. Officers discovered two adults dead when they arrived.
At 10:45 p.m. Anchorage Police released a statement saying detectives believe contact was made with everyone involved.
No charges have been filed and the identification of the two people will be released after the next-of-kin has been notified.
