North Pole man indicted for trafficking more than 3 pounds of meth, heroin
A 40-year-old North Pole man has been has been indicted on federal charges of possessing nearly three pounds of methamphetamine and a half pound of heroin with intent to distribute.
Cecil John Zak was arrested May 20, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Bryan Schroder's office.
A criminal complaint states on May 19 the Post Office Inspection Service searched two packages sent from "Joe Wilcox" of California that were sent to "J. ZAK" in Fairbanks. The parcels allegedly contained the three and a half pounds of drugs.
The next day, postal inspectors watched Zak accept the packages at the intended address. When his residence was searched investigators found $3,000 in cash, guns, drug trafficking items, more than five grams of meth, suspected ecstasy pills, a money counter and digital scales.
If Zak is convicted he faces a minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison, the release states.
