One person is dead after a motorcycle crash in Fairbanks, according to an online dispatch from Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers say they got the call reporting the crash at Old Steese Highway near Goldstream Road at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The motorcycle driver, 38-year-old Alexander Holder, was going at a high rate of speed, lost control and went into the trees. Holder was ejected into a creek.

The Steese Highway Fire Department arrived and tried life-saving measures, but Holder was pronounced dead just after midnight.

The office of the state medical examiner will perform an autopsy.
