A student has been arrested after Anchorage police say they brought a taser onto East High School grounds earlier this week.

A school resource officer was alerted by East High staff just before 8 a.m. Tuesday of the taser. According to a release from the Anchorage Police Department, the student was seen with the taser on a bus that morning.

Police say the student got off the bus at the school and hid the taser off school grounds while walking to a different off-campus location.

The SRO found the taser and the student, who was interviewed and arrested. Charges were forwarded to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

The student is enrolled in an independent educational program. Police say no one was threatened with the taser.
