Alaska State Troopers say a student was arrested after threatening to shoot students at Palmer Junior Middle School on social media last week.

The threat, which troopers and the Palmer Police Department were notified of on May 9, was posted on an Instagram account.

An investigation involving AST, PPD and the Anchorage FBI office led to the arrest of a Palmer Junior Middle School student in connection to the threat.

The student was remanded to the Mat-Su Youth Facility and charged with multiple felonies.

Troopers say this incident is separate from the threat to a high school that AST assisted PPD with on that same say. That incident was reported to PPD on May 8 and is still under investigation.
