A storm system is moving into Anchorage that will bring high winds to the area Friday.

The warning is in effect from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. for the Anchorage Hillside and Turnagain Arm where Southeast winds of 35 to 50 mph and gusts of 65 to 80 mph are likely.

Winds will also be strong in the lower elevations of Anchorage and Palmer where you can expect Southeast winds of 20-30 mph with gusts to 55 mph Friday afternoon and evening.

Winds of this strength can cause not only blowing debris, but difficult travel conditions, downed trees, and possible power outages.

Along with the winds, we'll see chances for scattered showers and high temperatures in the mid-50s. The winds will taper off late Friday night as this storm moves north. Scattered showers will continue through Saturday, but drier, sunnier and warmer weather is likely starting Sunday.

If you experience high winds in your area or see damage from the winds, share your reports with the KTVA weather team through e-mail, Facebook and Twitter. Get the latest weather conditions anytime for your area here.
