Authorities have identified the body of a man who was pulled from the Mendenhall River early last month.

Jeremy Christian Brinker, 40, has been identified as the man a Juneau Police Department officer pulled to shore on April 10 after someone reported finding his body wedged on a rock in the river.

According to a JPD release, a man reported he saw a coat in the water about 15 feet from the bank of the river just before 11:30 that morning. When he waded into the water, he found Brinker's body in the coat.

JPD and Capital City Fire/Rescue were dispatched to the area near the trailhead across from View Drive. A release at the time said there were no obvious signs of significant trauma to Brinker's body.

Brinker's next of kin have been notified. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
