Cold case murder suspect posts $20K, bonds out of jail
A man accused in a 1995 Muldoon beating death is out of custody after posting $20,000 bond.
Browne Willard III, along with Duwaine Price, was arrested in 2017 for killing 25-year-old Jerome “Jerry” Dillivan.
Anchorage police found Dillivan's body behind a Texaco gas station at Muldoon Road and Sixth Avenue. Police suspect he was beaten to death during a robbery.
“The homicide investigation went cold for many years until a Crime Stoppers tip and a subsequent DNA match helped solve the case,” prosecutors wrote in 2017.
Willard's bail initially was set at $500,000. It was lowered to $150,000 earlier this year; $20,000 was paid for his release, according to online court records.
A discovery hearing in his case is scheduled for June 2019.
Court records also show that Price remains in custody in Anchorage.
Both men face second-degree murder charges. If convicted, they each face maximum 99-year sentences.
