Missing Palmer man found dead, troopers confirm
The Palmer man who was reported missing near the Eagle River Nature Center was found dead Wednesday evening. Alaska State Troopers say 47-year-old Paul Guggenmos died from self-inflicted injuries.
Troopers worked with Anchorage police, park rangers and volunteers to look for Guggenmos, who was reported missing by his family Wednesday morning.
Guggenmos left home Tuesday evening and did not return, troopers said in an online dispatch. His family found his vehicle at the parking lot of the nature center a few hours later.
His body was recovered by troopers, search-and-rescue teams and the State Medical Examiner, who took possession of the remains.
