UPDATE: All lanes open after motorcycle crash on Glenn Hwy. at Boniface
As of 3:16 p.m. Wednesday, all lanes are open on Glenn Hwy. and Boniface Parkway at the JBER entrance. Police have not provided an update on the motorcyclist injured in the crash.
The ramp inbound from the Glenn Highway to Boniface Parkway is closed due to a motorcycle crash late Wednesday morning, police say.
Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson is not accessible through the Boniface gate entrance.
Southbound lanes, however, are unaffected and people may still exit JBER from the Boniface gate.
Anchorage police responded to reports of a crash on Boniface Parkway at 11:51 a.m., according to a release from the Anchorage Police Department.
Police say a Subaru and motorcycle were involved in the crash. The Subaru was traveling inbound on the Glenn Highway and took the Boniface Parkway exit.
"As the Subaru was proceeding through the intersection at the top of the ramp, a motorcycle traveling northbound struck the Subaru on the driver’s side," police wrote in a traffic alert.
According to APD, the driver of the Subaru was the only person in the vehicle and was not injured. APD does not believe alcohol or drugs were factors for the driver.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say they don't know whether that person was impaired at the time of the crash.
Police are investigating if either the motorcyclist or the driver had the green light.
APD asks anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call dispatch at 3-1-1.
