A basement fire led to the evacuation of a Fairview bar late Tuesday night, according to the Anchorage Fire Department.

Assistant Fire Chief Erich Scheunemann said the fire at the Crossroads Lounge on the corner of Gambell Street and East 14th Avenue was called in at 11:35 p.m.

Scheunemann said firefighters arrived at five minutes later and the fire was contained by 11:59 p.m., although crews would remain at the scene for several more hours. The assistant chief said the fire appeared to have started in the basement of the bar.

According to AFD, no injuries were reported.

On Wednesday afternoon, AFD said the fire was possibly an electrical fire. AFD did not provide information on the extent of damage, and it is not known if the Crossroads Lounge will reopen. AFD says that decision would need to be made by the owners.
