APD: 'Armed and dangerous' suspect arrested
At 9:10 p.m. on Thursday, Anchorage police say Jason M. Robards was located and taken into custody.
Anchorage police are looking for a man who rammed police vehicles in a stolen pickup truck.
The Anchorage Police Department is warning the public not to approach 35-year-old Jason M. Robards, who they've deemed as armed and dangerous. Police describe him as being 6 feet 4 inches tall, and weighing 380 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
"Anyone who helps Robards evade capture may be charged with Hindering Prosecution which is a felony," police wrote.
On Sunday, April 21 around 12:35 p.m. APD said they were called to the Midtown Walmart to a report of a man sitting in a stolen black GMC pickup. According to a release from police, officers recognized Robards as the driver. When officers started to block the truck in, Robards rammed police vehicles and sped away. Police decided not to chase after him due to safety concerns for people nearby.
The pickup truck Robards was in was reported as stolen to APD on April 16, after it was stolen from a parking lot on the 5100 block of Business Park Boulevard. The truck has since been recovered.
APD said Robards is charged with vehicle theft, theft, failure to stop and assault. Police say Robards had a prior felony warrant for probation violations and cutting off his ankle monitor.
People who know where he is currently are asked to call 911. Those with other information about Robards are asked to call the non-emergency number 311.
