Anchorage police are seeking the driver of a stolen pickup truck who opened fire on a witness in Spenard Tuesday morning.

According to APD spokesman MJ Thim, dispatchers first received a shots-fired report near Lois Drive and Spenard Road at about 11:15 a.m. Responding patrol officers found a stolen 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, as well as the person who was fired on, near Lois’s intersection with Jefferson Avenue.

“The citizen stated that he was shot at by the driver of the truck who then fled on foot towards Spenard Road, possibly towards 36th Avenue,” Thim wrote in an email. “The citizen wasn’t injured. Officers found evidence of a shooting in the form of shell casings.”

Police are asking anyone with information or surveillance video regarding the incident or the driver — described as a white man, wearing a dark or gray top and blue jeans — to call APD at 311.
