A Silver Alert has been canceled for a 55-year-old man sought Thursday in the Fairbanks area.

Alaska State Troopers issued an alert Thursday morning for Travis Tyre, with a message stating Tyre had last been seen Tuesday night near Geist Road and Gradelle Avenue.

The alert was canceled at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

According to an online trooper dispatch Thursday night, Tyre’s body was found during an afternoon search near his hotel, with help from PAWS search dogs and handlers.

“At approximately [3:45 p.m.] search dogs located Travis Tyre deceased behind a building located on Loftus Road near Geist Road in Fairbanks,” troopers wrote. “The cause of death does not appear to be suspicious.”

The state medical examiner’s office has ordered an autopsy for Tyre. An investigation is ongoing.

Correction: An initial version of this story inaccurately said the Silver Alert was issued Wednesday.
