Anchorage police have arrested a man who they say stabbed his roommate at their Anchorage apartment over the weekend.

Officers with the Anchorage Police Department responded to an apartment on the 200 block of N Park Street just before 5 p.m. Sunday after reports of a stabbing.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal altercation between the two men turned physical when one stabbed the other. According to a release from the department, the victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Blaine Williamson, stayed on scene. He was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on first-degree assault charges and an existing misdemeanor warrant for leaving the scene of an accident.

This was an isolated incident and APD is not looking for other suspects.
