Alaska State Troopers have identified the human remains found in a remote area of Big Lake last week.

In an online dispatch released on Wednesday, the remains were identified as those of Dolly Hampton, 57, of Wasilla. The State Medical Examiner's office determined the manner of death was homicide.

Hampton was reported missing by family members Dec. 6, 2018.

Troopers say the suspect in her disappearance and death is currently incarcerated for an unrelated crime.

In a previous release, Alaska State Troopers said it was not possible to identify the remains because of exposure to the elements.

An investigation into Hampton's death is ongoing.
