Anchorage detectives arrested 25-year-old Martin Kignak in connection to an early Monday morning homicide.

In a release sent about 8:40 a.m. Monday, police say the preliminary investigation shows that patrol officers saw Kignak assaulting the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the victim as 27-year-old Tony Susook in a statement sent Wednesday afternoon.

Kignak is facing murder charges, according to the release.

Police reopened Benson Boulevard between A Street and Denali Street just after 7:30 a.m. The road was closed early Monday morning as officers investigated a "suspicious death."

The Anchorage Police Department said in a release sent about 2:30 a.m. Monday that officers discovered the body of a man lying in the road at the intersection of Benson and A Street.
